Jesus was not the only one called the son of God
When studying the Bible, one will come to realize that the writers of the Bible used the word Son when referring to a righteous person. In the Bible when it refers to a group of righteous people, the writers called them the children of God. When referring to an individual Prophet, the Bible writers refer to that Prophet as a Son of God. This is letting the reader know that this person is righteous, obedient, or a God-conscious person. Jesus Christ is not the only Prophet in the Bible who is referred to as the Son of God. Let’s take a look at some of the other prophets who are referred to as sons of God.
Exdous 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel [is] my son, [even] my firstborn:
Jeremiah 31:9 They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim [is] my firstborn.
Luke 3:38 Which was [the son] of Enos, which was [the son] of Seth, which was [the son] of Adam, which was [the son] of God.
Romans 8:14 For as many are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
2 Samuel 7:13-14 He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:
Many Christians use the argument, after seeing the evidence that the Bible refers to other Prophets as sons of God, that with Jesus it’s different because he’s called in John 3:16 the begotten son of God. John 3:16 says; For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Christians will tell you that this verse shows a special relationship that Jesus had with God because the word begotten is used. This statement is not true. Take a look in Psalms 2:7 it reads; I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou [art] my Son; this day have I begotten thee. In this verse of the Bible, God is calling David His begotten son. So, according to the Bible Jesus is not the only begotten son of God.
