Islam is not a new religion. Islam teaches the same message that all of the Prophets of God taught to their people, and that is to worship one God without any partners. Islam means to surrender your will to the will of God. The people who follow the religion of Islam are called Muslims. Muslim means one who surrenders his or her will to the will of God. Muslims worship God unseen. Muslims do not believe that God is black, white, red, or brown. Many of us have been taught that God is a man. Islam teaches that God is the creator of man. God is the creator and everything else that is seen or unseen is creation. Muslims believe that God is totally independent of his creation. God does not have needs like the human being. God almighty does not need food, air, water, light, darkness, sleep, or rest. These are the needs of man, not God almighty. God does not have a beginning nor does he have an end. God does not have a son, daughters, uncles, or aunts. Muslims believe that no one has ever seen God. If no one has ever seen God, then you would have to agree that it would be a lie to paint a picture of a man and say that he is God or God’s son. God tells us that he is one and none is like him. The way that Muslims believe, it prevents a person from ever worshipping a human being or a part of creation. The Muslims believe in God the same way Adam, Noah, David, John, Solomon, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Jesus Christ, and Prophet Muhammad believed, Peace be upon them all.
