What does Allah Mean?

Allah is an Arabic word which means the creator of the heavens and the earth. It is the name that the creator calls Himself. Allah is the purest expression of the one who has power over the heavens and earth. Allah is not male or female, He is not black or white, and He is not and never was a human being. Allah has no beginning nor does He have an end. Allah has no sons, daughters, uncles, aunts, or any family ties to the human being. Allah is He who has no need of what He has created, but everything that He has created needs Him.
In the English language the word God is used when one is referring to the creator. I have often noticed that many non-Muslims become offended when they hear the word Allah. In their mind they think that the Muslims are referring to an idol. You have to remember that Jesus Christ, Peace be upon him, did not speak English. So when he called on his Lord what name did he use? He didn’t say God because the English language did not exist. In Matthew 27:46 it states; And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, E-li E-li, la-ma sabach-tha-ni? That is to say, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me? E-li comes from the Arabic word Allah. So we can see from the statement in the Bible that Jesus Christ referred to the Lord in the same manner that the Muslims do today.
Did you know that Arab Christians who live in Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and other parts of the Middle East refer to the creator as Allah? If you would ask them, who created the heavens and earth, they will say Allah. Why, because Arabic is their language.
So, when you hear someone say that they believe in Allah, they are saying that they believe in the same creator that Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus Christ, Muhammad (PBUH) and all the Prophets worshipped
